Spetisbury Construction undertook an extensive refurbishment of a grade 2 listed three storey terraced property to form a new sixth form block.
The refurbishment works were subject to listed building consent and overseen by the Southampton City Council conversation officer in all aspects of its reinstatement.
The site was in a very restricted area and all deliveries had to be scheduled before 8.00am or after 3.30pm as they had to go across the playground area.
Due to the time the property had been left unoccupied and as there was a severe roof leak during this period, the roof to the annex area had to be stripped back and all decayed timbers replaced. The lead secret gutters were replaced and a new slate roof installed to both areas. All timber floors where affected at each floor level. This involved removing and setting aside the existing floor boards that could be re-used. The decayed floor joists were then removed and replaced with new treated timber.
